THE TIME IS NOW:
Let’s Transform the Energy System
What is community energy?
Community energy refers to renewable energy projects owned and run by local people - rather than large, centralised utilities. It involves people in the community coming together to produce and manage clean energy collectively.
The profits they make are reinvested into their communities through help with energy bills, support for local people in fuel poverty and many other local services.
What is the Community Energy Revolution?
The Community Energy Revolution is a campaign to see community energy groups receive a fair price for the clean energy they generate. We drafted the Local Electricity Bill which would enable this.
Our goal is to enable community energy groups to thrive and build more clean energy installations which in turn will see more money benefitting the local economy and lower individuals’ household bills.
We’re making progress…
Tens of thousands of people back our campaign and have written to their MP about community energy. This has led to:
327 MPs
supporting the call for community energy groups to receive a fair price for the clean energy they generate
£10 million
allocated by the Government for local groups to start and expand community energy projects
112 local councils
across the UK publicly resolve to support the Community Energy Revolution
100+ national organisations
like Greenpeace, WWF, The National Trust, CPRE and many more supporting the Community Energy Revolution campaign
